Maria Grey est née en 1952 en Hongrie. Dès son enfance, son talent artistique naturel s’épanouit et renverse son entourage. Très tôt, elle participe à de nombreux concours et expositions de dessin, gagnant plusieurs prix, dont des premiers prix.

En peinture, ce sont les maîtres du baroque qui l’influencent dans ses choix de thèmes riches et raffinés. Elle tâche constamment de mouler sa peinture sur les modèles italiens de tradition classique et le fait avec brio.

Les riches bouquets transparents et ses compositions exécutées méticuleusement confèrent aux tableaux une ambiance d’élégance bourgeoise. Ses superbes arrière-plans représentent des domains aristocratiques d’une architecture raffinée. Toute cette beauté est rendue sans effort dans ses représentations de consoles de marbre aux courbes gracieuses sur lesquelles sont poses de délicats objets: cristal translucide, assiettes de bronze poli, précieuse coutellerie d’argent, nappes veloutées, fruits mûrs, porcelaines opalescentes, friandises exotiques. L’éclairage tamisé et un effet de chiaroscuro assez prononcé, combinés à son coup de pinceau exceptionnel donnent un fini dramatique et élégant à ses magnifiques compositions.

Ses oeuvres se retrouvent dans plusieurs collections privées et publiques à travers l’Europe, ainsi qu’au Canada.

Born in 1952, in Hungary, Maria Grey’s natural artistic talent has been obvious since her childhood. At a young age she participated in many drawing competitions and exhibitions, winning several prizes including First Prize.

Her elaborate and luxurious themes are influenced by the Baroque Masters. It is the classical tradition of painting which reflects the values of Italian standards which she continuously strives to attain.

Her rich transparent bouquets and meticulously executed compositions grace over the panel an ambiance of genteel elegance. Her spectacular backgrounds display aristocratic estates with fine architecture and statuary. This elite grandeur is effortlessly portrayed through the shaped marble consoles with their graceful curves, which support refined objects- translucent crystal, polished bronze dishes, precious silver cutlery, velvety tablecloths, ripe sumptuous fruit, opalescent porcelains and exotic delicacies. A fall of light and quite strong chiaroscuro effect, combined with the obvious quality of the brushwork, give an elegant and dramatic completion to her outstanding compositions.

Her works can be found in important private and public collections throughout Europe as well as in Canada.
