Kreso Cavlovic se lance à la rencontre de hasards heureux sur un territoire pictural inconnu. Il ne sait encore où cela le mènera, mais il est sûr d'arriver à bon port. Avec cette nouvelle démarche et malgré un certain abandon des symboles et des structures qui caractérisent ses oeuvres, Kreso demeure fidèle aux aspirations qui lui sont propres. En juxtaposant des toiles où se retrouvent la représentation de ses thèmes plus traditionnels, soit la femme ou le poisson, il encadre un nouveau canevas de recherche où ses errements l'amènent à un abstrait apprivoisé. Et dans cette aventure exploratoire et enjouée, Kreso reste prudent en respectant l'espace de chaque élément créé; L’incohérence ainsi matée, le chemin parcouru devient l’œuvre.

Kreso Cavlovic was born in Toronto in 1960. He attended Sheridan College Brampton where he won the award for Editorial Illustration.

Kreso began work as a freelance illustrator, doing projects for organizations such as T.V. Ontario, BASF and Southam. During this period Kreso continued to pursue a more personal vision through his paintings and drawings.

Over the last several years Kreso has developed a unique personal style based partly on Croatian Native painting. He combines commonly used elements in his naïve paintings with more abstract, simplified forms and color structure. This combination of intense color and heavy black line make the paintings resemble stained glass.

Kreso’s works can be found in many private collections throughout Europe, the United States and Canada.
